Sources and limits

Bahia → Rio · lineage of practices · Renata’s account of a lineage of practices; no individual Bahia–Rio journey is inferred.

Brazil → Mallorca · Gegê · Early 1990s, according to participants’ accounts; departure city and M-Zouk’s creation date are not established.

Brazil → Sydney → Brisbane · Kadu & Larissa · 2006, then July 2007; dance scenes already existed in Australia. Departure city in Brazil unknown.

Rio → São Paulo · guest teachers · 14–17 November 2007: workshops and shows reported in the contemporary press. This is not SoulZouk’s creation date.

Rio ↔ Porto · exchanges of practices · 2008–2009: observed exchanges and hybridisation. The two-way link represents practices, rather than flights.

Brazil → London · Renato · 2017: work in London recounted in the biography. No creation date for Urban is retained.

London → Warsaw · Renato · After the 2017 stay in London: the sequence is known, but the exact year of the move is unknown.

Rio → Singapore · SoulZouk transmission · 2017–2018: China’s hosted visits in Singapore. The link concerns a method; no actual departure from Rio is demonstrated.

Brazil → New York · invitation to Iago & Vanessa · 20–24 July 2023 programme: artists announced as coming from Brazil, departure city unknown. Invitation and teaching bridges; delivery of each class has not been verified.

Rio → Belém · learning and reinterpretation · A learning connection studied by Costa. 2019 dates the research, rather than a journey or the dance’s arrival.

The links are qualitative: they do not measure dancer numbers or community intensity. Approach names are reference points, and their boundaries remain debated.
